Care
Caring of our Handmade Items
To keep our handmade items looking beautiful for years to come, follow these care tips:
What You Can Do:
- Hand wash only in cold water (max 30°C) with a gentle wool detergent or shampoo designed for delicate fibers.
- Use a gentle squeeze method to clean the fabric, avoiding wringing or rubbing, which can stretch or distort the fibers.
- Lay flat to dry on a towel in its natural shape, away from direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators or hairdryers.
- Store properly in a cool, dry place in a breathable bag (cotton or linen) to protect against dust and moths. For extra protection, add cedar balls or lavender sachets.
- Knit items can pill over time, but you can gently remove pilling with a fabric shaver or by hand with care.
- Reshape your item after washing to restore its original form, especially for sweaters or scarves that may stretch slightly.
What You Shouldn’t Do:
- Avoid machine washing or tumble drying as both can cause shrinkage and damage to delicate fibers.
- Don’t wring, twist, or stretch the fabric to remove water, as it can permanently alter the shape.
- Avoid bleach and fabric softeners—they can break down the natural fibers and affect softness and elasticity.
- Never dry clean; chemicals used in the process can damage or discolor the fibers.
Treat them well - they’re handmade, but not magical, and can’t survive a trip through the washing machine.
